The Helena May was established by Lady May, the wife of Sir Henry May, Governor of Hong Kong, at its inception in 1916, with the object of promoting the welfare of women and girls in Hong Kong.
To this end, we furnish and maintain our heritage building; provide board and lodging and the amenities of a club and conduct various activities conducive to the attainment of the above object.
The Helena May was awarded the Caring Company award by the Hong Kong Council of Social Services for 2007-2008 and 2009-2010.
Situated in a unique heritage building in the heart of Hong Kong, The Helena May aspires to be a welcoming and affordable club for women of all nationalities and from all walks of life. Offering dining facilities, accommodation and an extensive English language library as well as a wide range of social and cultural activities, The Helena May Membership also recognises the vision of its founder in its focus on its community outreach programme, environmental stewardship and heritage conservation, with overall emphasis on the wellbeing and interests of all women and girls living in Hong Kong.
